Te Hana Nurseries was established by Chris Boyd in the late 1980s. Since then Chris and Val have been steadily developing the nursery, which now covers 5 hectares, comprising field grown and container plants.

Te Hana Nurseries specialise in producing plants that are healthy, hardy and robust, which they supply mainly throughout the upper North Island, although enquiries from throughout New Zealand are welcome.

Winter:       Monday - Saturday    Easter to December
                                                        Closed Sundays

Summer:   Monday - Friday         January to Easter
                                                        Closed weekends

Trade

Trade:         8.30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Saturdays:   Easter to December, 9am - 3pm (after 3pm by appointment)

Wholesale Orders: Collection or despatch by mutual arrangement

Retail:        9.00am - 5pm (Self service area)

Saturdays:   Easter to December, 9am - 3pm (after 3pm by appointment)

Retail prices in our nursery display area are all marked and are GST inclusive. Retail prices will apply to all small or casual purchases. You will still find these prices more than competitive. Pre-ordered 50+ plants will qualify for wholesale pricing, as per our catalogue.

Landscaping

We have independent Landscape and Design consultants for those who require assistance in planning and/or implementation. This service is available by appointment only. These people are well qualified and experienced in their respective fields and can offer sound advice and cost-effective options to suit your budget. We will put you in touch with the professional most suited to your project.

Plant Sourcing

We are in most cases able to source a wide range of plants from reputable growers (who use traditional growing media) if required. As we only add on a brokerage fee, we are able to offer very competitive pricing for species that we don't grow ourselves, and as always the more you order per species the better the price.

Sources

Care is taken to ensure all seed, cutting material and bud wood comes from the best known source and, where possible, all native species are eco sourced.

Contract Growing

Special rates can be negotiated for growing species on contract, including species not already listed in our catalogue. As our nursery covers 10 acres we are logistically capable of large projects.

REPELLENT RECIPE:

For Hares, Rabbits and Possums

5 eggs, 600ml water, 150ml acrylic paint

Mix together, spray 20mls on and around seedlings. Repeat as necessary.
